I forgot to add on the business about Porschephile tar choices:

While some folks like P-Zeros, the most common opinion I've seen expressed
is that Pirelli, once (*years* ago) the hot ticket, are no longer held
in much repute.  I had P-7s and P700s and liked them, but not too many folks
shared that opinion.

Also, there seems to be general agreement to avoid tars with model names 
beginning in MX...
