Re-tensioning timing belt

Say, while on the subject of timing belt relpacement,
anyone have any opinions on the reuse/re-tensioning of
the belt? I just changed the belt on my 5000s a couple
months ago, and now I have to go in and replace two of
the tappets.

I know this is taboo on many cars, but Bentley says
"mark it for reinstallation". My inclination is that,
for twenty-five bucks, it's not worth taking the chance,
unless someone can pretty positively say it's no
problem.

Thoughts anyone?
