Sounds an awful lot like destruction of personal property to me.  A cop 
dumping out a 16-year-old's beer on the side of the road and smashing a 
radar detector ($$) is a whole different matter, IMHO.

BTW, for those of you who live in radar detector oppressed states, can't 
one just get a detector that is undetectable by the "detector-detectors" 
and hide it somewhere?
