Hairy green toads from Mars made Mike LaRosa say: > Me thinks I'll change the oil and filter tonight and see what happens. > Although the oil looked clean when I checked it before we bought it, > have to check what kind of filter is in there.... BTW, I discovered that the OEM brand line of filters sold at the local Auto Palace chain has the drain-back valve, for less than $5. It looks like it is actually a Mahle filter (the original German one that I get form Imparts). I've been using them for a year now with very good results. A question about filters with drainback valves. What does this do to the oil level reading? I remember hearing someone say that it holds about 1/2 quart of oil in the passages. Wouldn't this make the level in the pan read low? Or would a non-valved filter make it read high? -- Andrew L.
