Warms the cockles of my EE heart, lemme tell ya ..:-) Even better than the coup I pulled off a few weeks ago with a replacement power antenna. The old Bosch unit was slower than molasses, the timer relay was adjusted to match (luckily I knew enough German to realize what Zeit Relais meant!). The new one was more than twice as fast and cost a third as much. Ten years of college (actually two years of hobbying in high-school) to the rescue! Yanked the relay open, located the biggest electrolytic cap. I could find (200 uF) and replaced it with a 100 uF component from my drawer-full of Radio Shack detritus. Works like a charm, and wins the power-antenna drags hands-down :-) -Arun PS: The car will probably self-destruct in months, though : the new antenna is Japanese! -- Arun Rao Scientist Pixar 1001 W.
