3 items: 

1)  Nate's car was running hot - 

Ditto Nick's comments.  Sounds like a cooling system restriction; 
possibly thermostat stuck part-way open/closed, or buildup of goo.   
(Technical term for grunge...).  Tires should have NO effect unless 
you went to 10" rubber and had to drive at 3 zillion RPM.

2)  Lifter noise??  DITTO on the exhaust manifold.  Now that bob 
pointed it out, the ticking noise when cold is absolutely typical.  
But hey - look at how long your new lifters will work!!!!

3)  G-analyst.  One of these was announced for sale on the Z-car 
group in the last few days, for $200.  You can post an inquiry to the
