4kq does not use the idle stabilizer, so mute point..... I was the originator of this trick way back in Jan of this year..... The practical theory is this: The stabilizer can recoup the loss of vacuum of the oil dipstick (and can recoup the oil cap if done slowly) if that is the only source of external air pressure.... What it can't do is recoup idle if there are other leaks in the system....... For practical purposes your best bet is to pressurize the whole intake tract with 15psi (more is not recommended or necessary) and ck for the hiss..... The dipstick/cap theory just tells you that's what you should be looking for, an air leak not elsewhere...... Scott
