The computer on my 90 Coupe Quattro is pretty damn close, and the computer 
on my ex-'89 90 was dead on. Change tire circumference, like upgrading, 
will change both computer and speedo accuracy. Are you on stock size tires?

I don't trust the trip computer.  Mine consistently overstates mileage by 
6-7 
mpg.  Always wondered why but figured it's not worth the trouble to debug 
it 
out.  My true mileage measured the old fashioned way is 21 mpg avg.
