  You've answered your own question.  I don't think gear changes at 2000
RPM in a TQ is considered normal by most on this group, nor is leaving 30+%
of the power band 4000-6500 RPM untapped.  I'm surprised you don't live in
that range given the Golf you had is pretty rev happy!?
