I tend to agree that the bolt method of wheel mounting is a real pain in
comparison
 with studs, but Audi does have something to make it easier.

In my 1990 Coupe Quattro tool bag, there is a long (~7") plastic partially
threaded rod
which screws into one of the bolt holes in the wheel hub.  Inserting this
into the top-
most bolt hole allows the wheel to hang on this plastic stud when removing
the last
wheel bolt, and helps you to align the wheel whti the bolt holes when
remounting.

You should be able to get this at any Audi dealeership; I picked up an extra
to avoid the 
hassles of getting at the tool bag whenever I wanted to remove a wheel.  Cost
was a
few bucks as I remember.
