Trans synchro help

At almost 200k miles the synchros in my 87 5k csTQ are showing their age. 1st
to 2nd, a little tuff, but most disturbing, sometimes hard to get into 1st at
a stoplight. Freezing temps aggrevate condition. Clutch only has 8k miles on
it, self adjuster is working. Mechanic persuaded me to use GL5 synth. fluid
although manual calls for GL4. I want to try Redline GL4-spoke to them
today-the woman gave me three choices 80w, 90w and 75/90w. Gut instinct tells
me go with the multi-grade. Any comments or suggestions other than rebuild?
