Matt,

You may want to check the instrument panel dimmer switch.  It contains a
printed circuit resistance strip that may have burnt out.  This happened on
my 85 4Kcsq.    Been working good for the past two years since I changed it.
 It apparently was overloaded when the previous owner tried to wire an
aftermarket radio.
