Thanks to all who replied to my original post. Results are in: 1. Alternator belt is tight. Star nut is OK. 2. Radiator fan is fine. Still, I wish it didn't draw 42 amps. 3. Best guess, by my mechanic, who is an old world ace: fluctating idle (750 rpm, approx.) was too low to handle the load. Expains why it didn't happen while driving. Also, a couple of days later, same conditions, higher rpm(950) no problem. It's more than a car, it's a GREAT hobby. /-/ NJMUG BBS \-\ New Jersey Macintosh Users Group /-/ /-/ 908.388.1676 \-\ http://www.intac.com/njmug/ /-/ /-/ (28.8K) FirstClass BBS \-\ <mailto:info@njmug.org> /-/
