There is a solvent used by the dealers to remove the 'cosmolene' from new vehicles. will not hurt paint or fabric, but don't think it's good on vinyls/rubber. The product is called Acrysol (xylene and naphta)and is made by Kent Industries,4800 Euclid ave. Cleveland, OH 44103 (216)391-8300 (I think this number is correct its written teeny on the can). I started using this when we bought our first Audi in 1985, and asked the dealer what they used to de-grease the car's . Stuff works great. I use it to remove road tar from the car, grease from the carpet (after it has been to the dealer for service), and misc. household cleaning. I used to get it from an auto supply wholesaler, but the last time, I had to order it in bulk (case of six cans) from the manufacturer. Nothing works as good. jazman '87 5000CS TQ '93 100CS
