Luckily the coupling does not seem to be damaged, >I hope. >The local muffler shop quoted me $ 675 Canadian fund, ($500 US) for >an aftermarket replacement. I think it is rediculous. Anyone know >where I can buy a muffler at better price than that ? The same thing happened to me last week....go figure, "let's put a nice heavy muffler like that on a couple of over-sized rubber bands and place the pipe directly over the coupling for the drive shaft." My pipe was cut through too..and without a sound..lovely. The way I see it, there are two, possibly three options. The "Meineke" guy thinks he can weld mine....but, I'm thinking of asking him to cut it in two and place a new sleeve over that piece of pipe so that a "bad weld...new outrageously priced muffler" is not risked. Option three: get the new gold plated muffler (they are gold plated aren't they?) What do you folks think about the "cut and new sleeve option?"
