WIX oil filters?!

hi, after following everyone suggestions to avoid fram, i went to my 
local small auto parts store that advertises having foreign car parts
for an oil filter for my '86 5000s (which i purchased for $3000 about
2 months ago..120,000miles)  they only had "wix" brand, made in the usa,
but it seems to have that valve (i see a little round plate maybe 1/3
way down).  has anyone heard of these?  i've installed it and it seems
to work (seals okay).  the old filter was a "penzoil" from walmart (i'm
not kidding, the previous owner had a receipt from a walmart that also
did oil change services).

any thoughts?
