Oil filters (again)

Just to keep the Fram/Mahle/OEM thing alive:

While strolling through a store the other day, I see a black Fram filter.
Finding this a bit odd, I pick it up and look at it.  Number PH 2870A (sound
familiar, former VW owners, current Fram users?)  This black filter had a
non-return valve.  In buying/using the orange Fram PH 2870A on my Jetta fo 9
years, I don't remember ever seeing a valve in the filter.  Price was $3.95.

Any Fram catalog owners out there?  Is this the euro-Fram?  Why make two models
w/same number?
