... I guess I missed the original post, but a gradually dropping pedal 
sounds more like leaking master cylinder seals to me ...

IME the classic symptom of a bomb problem is the brake warning light coming 
on when the brakes are depressed in an emergency stop situation, or the 
sense of a loss of assist in the pedal in the same situation.
