If you are going to replace it anyway go ahead.  But if you are just doing it 
dont until you need a new one.  It did not add much IMO.  I bought mine for 
the durability than the performance.  They cost about 35-50 bucks depending on 
where you get it.
However I did this against my mechanics recommendation.  He told me that the 
filter tends to sag in the Audi box.  I didn't believe him till I saw the 
filter in person.  The center of that filter does not have any cross brace and 
the edging is fairly soft.  I can see how it would tend to sag.  Im still 
running it and have yet to have a problem so we will see.

I have an '88 80 quattro and am interested in a K&N Air filter. How much would 
it run, is it worth the price, and what are the performance increases,and if 
there are any, are they noticeable??
