After some detective work, I have determined that no extra parts should be needed to mount speakers in the dash of my 1990 200 which came twith the Bose system - which meant it had no speakers in the dash. I called the very helpful Linda @ Carlsen and she gave me the parts numbers for the front speaker grilles and covers into which the grilles snap. For the record, these are: Mount, L: 441-819-793 Mount, R: 441-819-794 Grille, L: 441-035-419 Grille, R: 441-035-420 And in pulling the comparable parts off my car, I found THE NUMBERS MATCH. I always thought (are you listening, Arun??) that the speaker grille was blocked with a coarse material...but on holding it up to a bright light, I can see through it - and sound seems to travel through the material OK. On removing the mount beneath the grille, I found that there is a perfect round hole for the speaker to drop into - with a slot on one side for a mounting tab to stick through, and a stud projecting up 180 degrees from the slot, allowing the installer to secure one of the tto tabs. The round hole concealed by the grille mount measures precisely 3.5 inches acros the hole, plus a 1/4 inch shoulder for the speaker to seat on. It does look like getting the speaker in will be tight, but those of us who got the bose system can rejoice...because we have the grille parts we need to intall dash speakers. I plan to run the dash speakers off the front radio speaker outs, the door speakers off the rear speaker outs, and the rear deck speakers off the line outs and an amplifier. Noting the recent point made the Hon. Igor Kessel, I will not mount the amp horizontally under the rear deck, but vertically on the rear side of the seat bulkhead so heat can move away by convection. .......................................................
