Vacuum leak test

I have heard so much about the vacuum leak test, i.e.
remove the oil filler cap, engine should stall. Tried it after
replacing every vacuum and pressure line in the engine
compartment of my UrQ. Motor ran rough but didn't stall. Has
my engine been tuned to run with the leak and therefore
needs to be retuned? Do I have an engine seal problem?
There are no fluid leaks anywhere on the engine. Is this test
valid with the turbo motors? Thanks.
