Dan, Sorry to hear that your insurance co is trying to 5 big ones from you. I'd hate to see what it'd be if you drove a Porsche. Before you sell the car expecting your premiums to drop drastically, I'd check into the rates on whatever you plan on buying. I had my agent compare the premiums and found the results interesting. I have an accident and a ticket on my record. It is with my parents policy through Cincinnati. 1990 Coupe Quattro ($1800) - symbol 18 1991 Toyota 4Runner 4wd v6 SR5 ($1600) - symbol 13 1994 Ford Explorer Sport 4WD ($800) - symbol 6 1997 Ford Explorer Sport 4WD ($2200) - symbol 7 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport w/o abs ($1350) - Symbol 12 The most surprising rate difference to me was the explorers. They said that it is because the 1997 is a $28,000 vehicle and the 1994 about a $14000 one. The Audi is high because of the "Sports car" aspect. Check the rates before you sell. If you do decide to sell your car, judging from the prices I've seen offered in DuPont registry, you should be able to somewhere between $26-28k for the car depending on your geographic location. Midwest seems to be less than the coasts, with California (LA and SanFran being somewhat higher). I spoke with my dealer in Ohio and he said that 1996 A4q manuals are becoming a good alternative to the 1.8tq, being about the same price. Check with some of your local dealers and see what they are selling them for (not asking for them) also present the idea of one of them buying it from you. good luck, Bryan P.S. if you should decide to donate it . . . ;^) _______________________________________________________________________ Bryan Bowen * Elon College, NC * 910.538.3702 * boweb4p0@numen.elon.edu International Business Major/Spanish Minor '86 CGT Comm.
