As a previous professional car audio installer, you will need the special tools. These are a pair of "U" shaped coat hangar sized wires that have indents at the ends. Coat hangars will not work as they do not have the indents. If you do use coat hangars, you may damage the parts on the radio that hold the radio in place. You will also need this tool to re-install the radio. Also, check for a 8mm nut that will be accessible from behind the center console, although, in my experience, I have yet to come across one that actually had that nut attached. You should be able to scam one of these tools (radio pullers) by visiting one of your local car audio shops, talk to an installer and he will probably have an extra set he will give or sell you. That's actually how I got mine when I started 10 years ago. Dave gave me some very clear instructions as to get out the original radio on our 86 5ks. It does not want to budge. I don't want to break any plastic parts. It should come our easier. Dave suggested to bend a pair of 6" coat hanger pieces into a "U" shape, put into the holes on either side of face plate , and then with pressure outward, grasp the radio through the cassette door and yank firmly. I have tried various version of this and no success. Am I missing something. David with dead radio
