[Author Prev][Author Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Author Index][Thread Index] yet another timing belt question (and some ND show verbage)
Folks, So let's say I don't have any Audi tools, and am ablt to get the pulley bolt out to change the timing belt. How do I rotate the engine to TDC? It seems the easiest way is with the bolt itself, but once it's loose, then what? Of course I can't spin the engine clockwise 359 degrees just because it's 1 degree past TDC, if the belt is off. Is the engine easy enough to turn to use my bare hands on the pulley? Just wondering. I don't think I'm gonna use ANY factory tools to do the work. I'm now leaning more towards the "other" methods, or a factory tool "substitute" of some sort. -- Regards, Ken (if you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm gonna (someday soon) replace my timing belt/lifters/water pump/cam on my '86 Coupe GT) p.s. Had a time at the ND show. Met a few listers. Got a little sunburn. Haven't done that in years. I was wondering why I saw some people puttin' Bullfrog on their faces and skin 'n stuff. Duane Hale's turbo 4k got 1st place in the Audi/Fox(?!) category. Beat out a white ur-q with one flat and one sloped twin bulb eurolite. I wonder if there's someone out there with the other one of each! :-) He also got people's choice. It's nice. I'll put up some pictures soon (on a web page, of course) <^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Ken Keith^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^> < '86 Audi Coupe GT > < AZEV, ABT, Borla, K&N, Brembo, > < Schrick (waiting for install), > < '94 Saturn SL2 > < 16v, 4 wheel disc, ABS, full power, > < ASC automatic sunroof. > vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvkkeith@qnet.comvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv>
