OK, no lecture today.
Last year I opened the 20vCQ door on a cyclist, (she was too close
  to the parked cars, I wasn't looking). It bent the door back
  just a little bit. Hardly even noticible. Body shop reskinned the 
  door, bill came to $1200.
Have your insurance agent do the work, that's what they're there for.
