Are you _sure_ it doesn't have a trip computer?
On the later (electronic) digital dashes, only one of the odometer or trip
counter can be displayed at once. You switch from one to the other by holding
down the left side of the function selector switch until the odometer starts to
flash, release and press again to display the trip counter (you can zero it
only while it's still flashing - press the centre reset button) and then press
the right side of the function selector to lock the display in trip mode.
I cannot believe Audi would _ever_ build a display without a trip computer.
