It does this even if you the address is the same.  This prevents me
from forging a message from `quk' and having it subscribed without an
acknowledgement.

You'll also notice that it has a cryptic code that you need to send
back to start the subscription; this prevents me from forging the
acknowledgement too, because I wouldn't know the code that was mailed
to `quk'.
