SL refers to sport light.  In German, of course, which I don't quite know how
to spell.
the TD is Turbo Deisel.  SEL and SEC are Sedan Injected Long (or something
similar) and Sedan Injected Coupe.  From what I remember. SLC is sport licht
coupe,.  BMW has a much better, more consistant naming system.  Actually,
it's probably the most logical one of all.
