before we get on to esoterica about "directional" wire, let's state what we DO know: 1) A single-end terminated shield is called a "faraday shield" 2) You terminate only one end so that ground current does not flow in 2 paths, thus creating a potential for a ground loop 3) By terminating it at 1 end, there is a low-resistance path to drain noise to ground 4) As noted earlier, this is superior to a simple coax because you maintain a cleaner signal ground (maybe). If you really want to control noise, run a balanced pair so that noise cancels. Grant
