After I had my pads changed my mechanic told me he also bled the lines. This guy is not an Audi mechanic, but is Bosch. I don't know if you guys followed the posting on this list about dead bombs. I was also a sufferer of that problem. The odd thing is that before having my pads changed and brake system bled my brakes, even though worn and squealing, were still killer brakes. From the day the car came back from the change the brakes were soft. A week later I had all the symptons of a dead bomb, ie. shudder at the end of the brake travel and hard pedal as soon as the motor was off. I am now wandering if I should rather do a re-bleed of the system to try and get some better braking even if the bomb is on its last bit of fuse. Could spongy brakes after a pad change and bleed only be air in the system? Could such a thing cause the bomb to fail? Could it give the symptons of a failed bomb even if the bomb was ok? Also, anyone using Ferodo Platinum pads? I should have gone with the standard factory Ate pads, those damn Ferodo pads don't even come with built on wear indicator wires! What is the verdict on the stopping power of these pads? I mean, dead bomb or not, air in the system or not, just how hard does one have to hammer the pedal to get the pads to even touch the rotors???? :) G. -- "a thousand miles from here, there is another person smiling" 1990 Turbo (200T) name : gerard van vught tel : +27-57-912 2658 (w) / 082 923 9609 (cell) url : http://www.acenet.co.za/homepages/gerard/ e-mail : gerard@poboxes.com / han.solo@galaxycorp.com gerard@acenet.co.za / van_vught@frg.issi.co.za
