Gerard had problems with his rear doors. If the rears are not opening, one of the common problems is resistance caused by gunk building up at povit points. You are doing the right thing by confirming all vacuum lines are in place, as a leak there spells doom. I recommend opening all four door panels and using white lithium grease in a spray can to lubricate EVERY linkage point in the door lock mechanisms.
