It helps keep the windshields and windows cleared in the winter time when the heat is on and the car has warm, steamy bodies inside. Phil Payne or some of the others in europe could expand on this. We normally close the vent and ignore it until the windows steam a bit, then we open it just enough to clear them. Later. --ml Still Confused in Bucksnort.
