Bart, sorry to hear about these complications. Hope you'll get the V8 5sp. eventually. OTOH, may I ask you this obvious question: why are you not considering a '91 200? Roughly the same level of performance, less classy but far more tuneable. It also has a better gas mileage and parts are plentiful and a lot cheaper than for a V8.
