   The =93failure=94mode of unplugging the WGFV is underboost i.e. boost
   limited by the WG spring only.

In this case, just unplug the WGFV and drive around for a few months (!!)
and see if the problem recurs. (Alternatively, unplug for a week, plug
for a week, repeat over several months until a "positive correlation"
can be made.)

Horrible, I know. Short of Audi fessing up, or giving you source listings
for the ECU . . .
