Climate control display in S4

Hi!

In my S4 V8 `94, the left LCD display showing the 
climate control temperature is dark. My local Audi 
shop wants to change the whole control unit, which is
going to cost me $1000. Is it possible to fix the 
light in the panel, without replacing the whole thing ?
