Oil pan removal - must I pull harmonic balancer?

Hi!

I'm going to be pulling the oil pan on the 5KCSTQ and the Bentley says I
have to lower the subframe (expected) and remove the harmonic
balancer (unexpected).  Can you get the pan off without removing the
balancer?
