How to remove crankshaft pulley without special tool?

I was going to replace the timing belt on 5kcst this morning when I ran
into the problem of not being able to remove the crankshaft pulley to
get the old belt of.  Is there a way of doing this without having the
audi special tool?  Will I be able to get the bolt out without having
some major heavy duty wrench? I read in Haynes that the bolt is supposed
to be tightened to 350nm and use threadlock.
