I did.  I was having strange hot-start problems on my old 4KQ a long time
ago when I knew next to nothing about how the fuel system worked.  I
changed the fuel pump.  Nothing.  I changed the filter.  Nothing.  I found
an accumulator and lines in a wrecking yard that looked like they were
in good shape.  It solved the problem.  The next step after that was to
the mechanic, something I couldn't afford at the time.

I didn't dissect the accumulator at the time to find out what was wrong
with it, though.  It's apparently rare that they go bad, I wish I'd done a
post-mortem.
