Folks, Gave the old '85 5KT a long-overdue bath yesterday (it's car wash time in suburban CA for sure: the sound of gushing hoses was overwhelming), and the old girl rewarded me with (another) interesting problem. I opened the door to get into the car this morning, and the dash lights turned on .. the auto check flashed "OK" as I was sitting down. Was this some fancy feature that was timed to operate only when the car had crossed 160K, I thought. Anyway, I drove to work uneventfully, except that I couldn't turn the engine off when I got there. On a hunch, I pushed aside the rubber boot through which the door wiring harness runs near the hinge and jiggled the bundle of wires. After a couple of tries, the engine shut off. (Maybe I should go check to see if the car's gone off by its lonesome to get some lunch :-) Anyone seen this? My best guess is that the ignition circuit is getting power somehow via the "door-open" warning light circuitry, but I haven't had a chance to take a closer look yet. -Arun '85 5KT (161K) '91 200Q (76K) '98 egdoD dnarG navaraC (K2) -- Arun Rao Pixar Animation Studios Pt.
