I've been receiving the digest version for about two weeks and I have finally gotten up the courage to ask questions. First let me admit openly that I don't understand probably 95% of whats discussed here, but I enjoy the list anyway. Hey, if I keep reading maybe something will sink in. What I really love reading about is your passion, respect and appreciation for this automobile. The more of that I read, the happier I am with my decision to own one. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I'd like to join Al Powell and Unka Bart and extend the cordial greeting to you. Welcome to the techno-geek fraternity, Dee. I hope you'll enjoy being around and find something useful here. One doesn't have to be male and/or to be a gearhead to appreciate such a marvel of engineering and étalon of class as is Audi automobile. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< About a month ago I purchased an 95 A6q in pearl. Let me just say, its a thing of beauty. I'm afraid to admit that that was probably the biggest selling feature for me, (aside from reputation) its a drop-dead gorgeous car. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Don't be afraid to admit that you have taste. Besides, you're not alone, my A4 is Pearl also. :) My 200 is Tornado Red only because in 3 years that I've been chasing the early '89 200TQ (pre-airbag, big K26 turbo) I failed to come across one in Pearl White and eventually gave up on it. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I was given the maintenance record book and only glanced at it the night I bought the car (I hope that doesn't put me in the dumb blonde category). >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> You should've seen how I bought my first Audi - an '85 5000s! Cash on the spot, with a leaking rack, broken exhaust studs (and the exhaust waking the neighbourhood), dead main Autocheck computer etc., all of which usualy came with owning an Audi of that vintage. But who cared about such nuisances when it was my dream car ever since I saw it for the first time in '82 in downtown Moscow, Besides, it was a rare 5-speed! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< The other thing I am wondering about is gas mileage. Admittedly, I didn't give this a whole lot of thought while I was being a love-sick lass lusting after this car, but now that I have to feed it, I'm noticing that I only get around 14 miles to the gallon. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Seems a bit low, although if it is an automatic, with the 2.8L 6cyl engine in a city cycle that might be normal. I never owned an automatic Audi, but my chipped 200TQ used to show ~14-16mi/gal until I replaced the OXS sensor. Now it is about 18/city and 22/hwy. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< I'm thinking that I'd like to come back as an Audi in my next life!) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Once again, you are not alone. Some of us are ridiculously brand loyal to this make. :) ************************************************************ Igor Kessel "Why would anyone buy just a car when Mankind has invented a Quattro!"
