FYI: V8 Intake manifold gasket

  I have found yet another part that does not cross from the 16v engine
onto the V8. Yep, you guessed it, the intake manifold gasket (VW# 027 129
717E). They look the
same and in fact the port size shape and even the spacing is identical, but
alas, the bolt pattern is different. So, if you ever have to pull the IM
off your V8, don't even try the 16v gasket.

  It's a shame too because the 16v gasket is $4.00 and the V8 part is
$33.00 (each)!!!!! $66.00 in gaskets...hmmmmmm....maybe those old ones
didn't look so bad after all. :-) 

  anyone want to buy a 16v intake manifold gasket....cheap? :-)
