In general, the higher and less-obstructed the receiver, the better the range. That's why my V1 is installed in my Coupe Q on the passenger side visor. Having said all that, the reduced range at the a-pillar location may be insignificant. And that tradeoff may be worth the more stealthy (read: less visible to a patrolling cop) location. Chris, if you can find a steady radar source (say, one of the k-band door openers typically used at newer stores), why don't you move your car to just outside of the detection range, then move your V1 to the visor, and see if you pick the source up? I'll do the reverse in my Coupe. Run the experiment using both antennas. Let's see if the location really matters.
