I use 20w-50 Mobil 1 in all my cars '82 Rabbit truck, '86 4kcsq, '92 Corrado
SLC with out any problems.  The Rabbit truck has about 170,000 miles on the
bottom end, rebuilt head at 100,000;  I drive it to Atlanta 4.5 hour drive and
doesn't use a bit of oil, same goes for the 4k with 160,000 miles stock motor
no major engine work except lifters, I'm the second owner.  The last owner
didn't take very good care of it.  The Corrado has had Mobil 1 its entire
life.  I have heard that using synthetic in an older motor will cause some of
the seal to leak but have not had any problems so far.
