Hairy green toads from Mars made Michael Murphy say: > The most used I5 engine OEM oil filter part 056 115 561 and several > letter variants are xrefed to FRAM PH4681, which according to Fram's > catalog has an anti-drain valve, but NO bypass valve. The other two > Frams for Audi gas engine apps. that I've found so far (their catalog is > xrefed by Fram numbers, not cars!) have both valves. When I cross reference Fram filters, I got a different number (forget what it was: 2548?). It has NO valve in it, and felt like a very light, cheap construction. For the extra $1, I get Mann/Mahle OEM filters at my local parts place. Twice the weight, proper valves, better filtering. -- Andrew L.
