[Author Prev][Author Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Author Index][Thread Index] water in fuel
Q - Last Friday, my 91 200Q was almost empty and I took it into a Gulf station and had it filled. The car was running fine at the time. After the fill-up, the car ran for about 5 seconds (not even) and just stopped. Attempts to restart the car failed. Had it towed to my mechanics. Mechanics called last night to let me know the problem was there was a LOT of water in the fuel system. They aren't sure, but they think it was more water than gas in the tank. Now, apart from the obvious "how the hell did they manage that", my real worry is of the damage done to the car by having water in the fuel system for that long. The car was sitting from Friday afternoon until Tuesday morning. If anyone has had experience with this, or wants to offer a best/worst case scenario, I'd welcome the comments. I'm thinking at least a new fuel pump, at worst, well, I don't want to think about. Rob Winchell 91 200Q P.S. Yes, I plan on making Gulf pay.
