Very low battery voltage will cause the idle controller to increase idle speed. If this is not the case, I would suspect dirty/failing ISV. Checking the idle adjustment screw for adjustment/vacuum leaks is a good idea, too. >3. Hot start sometimes takes 2 or 3 tries to start.
