It terms of looks on some cars it's a detractor, but when
it comes to strength there is no comparison.  The Mercyless 
Benz "old" style SL's here in the states were all fitted
with bumpers from the full size MB Diesels with an added
8 inches of hard rubber.  Only sports car that came 
with it's own "bench seat" in front of the grille.
