4kq radio installation

Hello all.

The time has come to install a radio for the '90s in the Quattro(in other
words, I'm sick of not having a CD player in the car).

However, before I dive in, I've got a couple of questions.

First off, assuming I stick to a DIN sized radio, will I run into any ugly
fitment problems? Is there adequate depth behind the mounting slot for a CD
player?

Secondly, I found the Bentley manual to be less than enlightening on the
subject of what needs to be removed to remove/install the radio. How little
can I get away with removing while still giving myself access?
