I was looking at a 500SEL a friend wants to buy, while going through the receipts I found one from an MB dealer in NC dated about four years ago, they charged over $1000.00 to change the fanbelts. Each belt was itemized with the labor straight out of the book. Problem is...you have to take all the belts off anyway to get to the first belt, but the dealership added labor for each belt as if it were being changed by itself. Not to mention the absurd cost they had down for the belts. They probably used the screwdriver trick, if they did it takes about 10min, $1000.00 for ten minutes work, gotta love it.
