Maybe no parts were brought in via the dealer network, as the tranny is treated as an assembly. Typical Audi BS. >We've called ZF and been told that maybe if we can get a part number >we can maybe get the part from Germany. We can't even get a part number! ZF is great when it comes to their industrial transmissions, on the passenger car side, their customer service sucks almost as much as their trannies do. >We called the Audi training centers but there was never any training >on those trannys 'cause we were never supposed to fix them anyway. >We were just hoping they had one gathering dust. I'm not sure, but I think BMW has training on the ZF boxes. When I helped a friend change the valve body in his V8 (in the archives somewhere, all it needed was one solenoid), we got the majority of the parts from a local rebuilder who matched up parts from his ZF (BMW) stock. The only difference in the harness was the type of terminal connectors used. >So what is the part? The oil pump in the tranny has 2 broken "tangs" >or "tabs" that fit with the torque convertor. So without those two "tabs" >the tranny flat out has no drive. No pump, no go. WE are trying not to >have to tell this guy that yes he does need a $10,000 tranny. The place I got the parts (Brookline Transmission) was sold a few years ago. The new owner is, well, lets be nice and say he's not as accomodating. But, try JAGGI IMPORT EXPORT, INC., 1-800-874-7753 They have a full diagram of the transmission, including ZF part numbers at: http://www.jie.com/4hp24A.htm BCNU, Cobram@Juno.Com http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Flats/1469/ ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
